Listen to learn

Professor Lim talks about one aspect of tea and our Teochew culture in this video

I invite you to listen to what Professor Lim has to say.

One aspect of learning a language and mastering it, is to listen to what is said and write down verbatim what has been said.

You can write in Romanised Teochew or using Teochew characters.

In this way, you will hear every single character which Professor Lim uses.

Why don't you try doing this?  It will test your Teochew knowledge and understanding.

I am sure you remember in school when your teacher gave you a dictation test. This is a Teochew dictation test.

When you know the limits of your Teochew, then there is a possibility for you to learn more Teochew words and phrases or otherwise you will be thinking you know it all and there is no need to struggle with learning Teochew.

I have found mastering Teochew to be a kou2liang7 苦練 which means to study diligently - training my listening and writing skills on a daily basis.

Have a go and see how far you get with you writing verbatim what Professor Lim says.
