Medical Terms

If you were to listen to the first minute of this video, you will hear a number of terms regarding a middle aged lady getting pregnant. 

As usual I have written notes for you so it is easier for you to follow what she is saying to herself.

Such modern medical terms are all in Standard Chinese and do remember that Teochew is a Chinese language.

She uses the word nguin5hiam2 and I think she should be saying hong1hiam2 because she is referring to a risky pregnancy in a middle aged lady.

I hope you view this as an opportunity to deepen your knowledge of our mother tongue. If you were to visit a doctor who is a Teochew may it be in Singapore or our homeland, the doctor will use the medical terms in Standard Chinese and therefore to be able to understand our mother tongue, we have to slowly improve the standard of our Chinese.
