I have decided today to type out the notes for you with additional Teochew words and I hope these notes can help you to learn our mother tongue.

dua7bêh4 大伯	oldest uncle – father’s eldest brother
ri6bêh4 二伯	2nd uncle – father’s second elder brother
a1m2 阿姆	aunt – father’s elder brother’s wife
dua7m2 大姆	aunt - father’s eldest brother’s wife
ri6m2 二姆	aunt – father’s 2nd brother’s wife

Due to China’s one child policy, people now call their daughters gian2 or nou5.
zao2gian2 走囝	daughter
Daughters are called zao2gian2 – because zao2 means to run as in run away as daughters will get married and leave the family.
