What horrible stories has the elder cousin told the younger one?

A cousin has visited and this is part of their 20 second conversation.

This is only to make us laugh and it is not real and do not take it seriously, thinking this has occurred in our homeland.

It is also an opportunity for those of us whose Teochew is not so good and cannot keep up with Lim Gang’s story, for the conversation uses ordinary Teochew words and therefore is not too complicated, without huge number of imported Mandarin words.

I have included a word list which has a few more complicated words.  

Some people may say zioⁿ6bang1 as zo3gang1 做工 and there is nothing wrong with saying zo3gang1. However, please note that zo3gang1 usually means to do manual work and does not refer to doing any white-collar work.  Zioⁿ6bang1 is used to mean to do a white-collar work.

To do housework or homework is usually said as zo3 kang1kuê3 做工課。

The point here is that it does not matter if you speak in broken Teochew Uê – just speak our mother tongue and hopefully there is someone to correct you. 

When you have reached a certain fluency, you will be able to self-correct yourself. The key point is to keep listening to native speakers speaking Teochew Uê and as your listening skill improves, you will learn more and more new words naturally.
