The characters 囥臱

In the following video, we learn about the Teochew word “keng3mi1”. How do we write “keng3mi1”?

keng3mi1

囥臱

To put something away or to conceal something and for both, the item cannot be seen.

u6 zin5 keng3

有錢囥|有钱囥

have money to put away

keng3 ho2

囥好

to have put something away

NOTE:

When we say ho2 at the end of a verb, it means the work has been done; been accomplished.

Keng3 means to hide something or to conceal it or to put something away for safe keeping. Do not be confused with bhih4 A or diam3 to mean to hide oneself; to hide as in to conceal oneself to avoid contact with others.  One uses the word keng3 for objects and if you are hiding from someone, then you use the word bhih4 or diam3.

Mi1 means to be out of sight, not be able to be seen.
