It is not possible to speak Teochew properly unless one knows our Measure Words. Measure words are also known as classifiers. In Teochew it is called liang6se5 量詞｜量词
I have put together a list from what I know. I also included those which I do not use. For example, in Singapore they use dion1 張｜张 for bicycle
You can begin a sentence with a measure word but never with zêg8 一 and Mandarin speakers will find this very difficult because they transfer Mandarin grammar into Teochew. And if you have to say one person the correct Teochew is go6nang5 個人 and not zêg8nang5 but most people say zêg8nang5
