門骹一叢梨 Explained

I have already written about this nursery rhyme 門骹一叢梨 and it is time to explain it properly. 

門骹一叢梨 - mung5ka1 zêg8 zang5 lai5 - the door way has a pear tree

ka1 骹 and the Mandarin equivalent is 腳 and 門骹 mung5ka1 means doorway and in Mandarin is 門口 

zang5 叢 the Mandarin equivalent is ke1 棵  : classifier for trees and 叢梨 zang5 lai5 is a pear tree 

數來數去三百個 - siao3 lai5 siao3 ke3 san1 bêh4 gai5 -count here count there, there are three hundred [pear trees]

I do not know if you know of the expression 算數 seng3siao3 - deng2lai6 ua2 gah8 le2 seng3siao3 轉內我合汝算數 and in Mandarin it would be 回家我跟你算賬 - I will deal with you when we return home - 數 siao3 is another way to say count like 算 seng3

阮厝阿兄𡥘個𡚸 - ung2 cu3 a1hian1 cua7 gai5 bhou2 - our elder brother marries a wife

阮 can be said as uang2 or people from Tênghai 澄海 will say ng2 or from Teochew will ung2 which means 我們 in Mandarin or "us" in English and ung2 does not include the listener 

cu3 厝 and the Mandarin equivalent is 房子 and it means homes, flats, houses - anywhere where people live 

阿兄 a1hian1 and the Mandarin equivalent is 哥哥 which means elder or eldest brother 

cua7 𡥘 and the Mandarin equivalent is 娶 means for a man to marry a wife 

bhou2 𡚸 and the Mandarin equivalent is 妻子 which means wife 

𡥘著個𡚸無下頦 - cua7 dioh8 gai5 bhou2 bho5 ê6hai5 the wife has no chin

𡥘著 cua7dioh4 and in Mandarin is 娶到  means to marry for a man

ê6hai5 means chin 

門骹一叢柑 - mung5ka1 zêg8 zang5 gan1 outside the household is a mandarin orange tree

gan1 means a mandarin orange 

數來數去三百三 - siao3 lai5 siao3 ke3 san1 bêh4 sancount here count there, there are three hundred and three

阮厝阿兄𡥘個𡚸  - ung2 cu3 a1hian1 cua7 gai5 bhou2 our home elder brother marries a wife

𡥘著個𡚸長短骹 - cua7 dioh8 gai5 bhou2 deng5 do2 ka1 - the wife has a leg longer than the other

長短骹 deng5 do2 ka1 means to have a leg short than the other 

無下頦來長短骹 - bho5 ê6 hai5 lai5 deng5 do2 ka1 no chin, one leg longer than the other

怨來怨去是媒人婆 - uang3 lai5 uang3 ke3 si6 bhuê5 nang5 pua5 - blame here blame there - it is the matchmaker's fault

uang3 怨 means to blame 

bhuê5 nang5 pua5 媒人婆 means matchmaker 

害阮阿兄田未做 - hai7 ung2 a1hian1 cang5 bhuê7 zo3 cause elder brother not to be able to work in the fields

hai7  means to cause [in a negative way]

cang5  field for planting crops or vegetables 

bhuê7 zo3 未做 has not done or in this case not be able to work

日日暝暝捶心肝 - rig8 rig8 mên5 mên5 dui5 sim1guanday and night pounds his chest

暝 n5 is 晚上 in Mandarin and it means evening or night 

rig8 rig8 mên5 mên日日暝暝 means day and night 

dui5  means to pound 

sim1guan心肝 chest 

阿兄汝呾勿傷心 - a1hian1 le2 dan3 mai2 sion1sim1 you elder brother do not be grieved 

汝 le2 and the Mandarin equivalent is 你 which means you 

呾 dan3 and the Mandarin equivalent is 說 means to say or to speak 

勿 mai3 means don't 

sion1sim1 傷心 means to grieve or deeply hurt and the equivalent Teochew word is gêg4sim1 激心 

米已成飯未成舟 - bhi2 in2 sêng5 bung7 bhuê7 sêng5 ziu1 the rice is already cooked, not yet becoming a boat

米已成飯 the express "bhi2 in2 sêng5 bung7" comes from an idiom 米已成炊 the rice has already been steamed and therefore cannot be undone like the French expression fait accompli 

bhuê7 sêng5 ziu1 未成舟 comes from the expression 木已成舟 which means "wood has not become a boat"

只欲阿嫂勤合儉贏過 - zi2ain3 a1so2 keng5 gah8 kiam6 ian5 guê3  if only sister in law is hardworking and frugal is better than

zi2ain3 只欲 Mandarin's equivalent is 只要 which means "if only" 

a1so2 阿嫂 in Mandarin is 嫂嫂 - sister in law 

keng5 gah8 kiam6 勤合儉 comes from keng5kiam6 勤儉 which means hardworking and frugal 

gah8 合 means "and" 

ian5 guê3 贏過 means better than 

阿姐嫁著個翁 - a1zê2 gê3 dioh4 gai5 ang1 elder sister marries a husband (who)

a1zê2 阿姐 means 姐姐 in Mandarin and in English is elder sister or eldest sister 

gê3 dioh4 嫁著 marry for a lady  

ang1 翁 husband and in Mandarin is 丈夫 

髧眉白仁 - dam3bhai5 suan3 bêh8ring5 (is) good for nothing and an idiot 

dam3bhai5 髧眉 in Mandarin is 窩囊廢 someone who is good for nothing 

bêh8ring5 白  means an idiot sometime and in Mandarin is 白癡

無下頦來長短骹 - bho5 ê6 hai5 lai5 deng5 do2 ka1 - has no chin, (with) one leg longer than the other . . .

阿姐嫁著個翁髧眉白人 can be translated into Mandarin as  姐姐嫁給一個窩囊廢傻瓜白癡丈夫  and 贏過阿姐個翁 can be translated as  比姐姐的丈夫好很多
