In the next line she used the word huê2sig8 and said as huê2sêg8. My mother called kitchen huê2sig8 and my Teochew language teacher informed me that huê2sig8 is now used to describe a cafeteria or canteen.  My mother also called kitchen zao3ê6 竈下｜灶下。 How do you call a kitchen? If one were to speak in Mandarin Teochew, or unorthodox Teochew, then one would say dou5bang5 廚房。
