Carrying a load

Sometimes we have to learn Teochew, character by character and we will focus on learning  today, which takes tones 1 or 3. All Mandarin dan1 will become Teochew dan1 and all Mandarin tone 4 dan4 becomes Teochew dan3. All verb will be dan1 and all nouns will be dan3 in Teochew.

When dan3 in not at the end of a phrase, then its tone will change to tone 5. Tone 1 does not change its tone regardless where the character is placed in a phrase.
