Even native speakers get it wrong!

Iab Hui 葉飛 said 經典 as gêng1diang2 and if you were to look at the dictionaries, you would find it is said as giaⁿ1diang2. See Zhang Xiao Shan’s second edition dictionary on page 510 and please also look at Mogher.

So why do native speakers get it wrong? I think it is because most Teochew people do not have Teochew dictionaries at home or do not consult their dictionaries. 

There is not one day in which I do not flip open my Teochew dictionaries and check how to say words or phrases. 

I find it rather embarrassing that our people use wrong characters, mispronounce words - all because we are too lazy to consult with our dictionaries. 

If you cannot read Chinese, then you are excused. However, native speakers cannot be excused.
