more on "gong"

In the last post, we learnt about gong3 for stupid and gong5 for confused.

Let us learn the gongs for the various tones.

gong1

a1gong1 阿公

grandfather

gong2

dê5(7)gong2 茶㼦

tea caddy

gong3 戇|戆

ca5(7)gong3 柴戇|柴戆

stupid

gong5

gong5(7)gong5 愩愩

confused

There are no gong6 and gong7. As you learn the various sounds, you will learn the tones, for I have used common words which we all use on a daily basis and thus you will be able to train yourself to say the various tone correctly.

The Chinese definition of gong5  means to be perturbed [心神恍惚] and I think this describes A'Hang and Ri'Mue better than confuse.
