In the last post, we learnt about gong3 for stupid and gong5 for confused.
Let us learn the gongs for the various tones.
gong1 公 |
a1gong1 阿公 |
grandfather |
gong2 㼦 |
dê5(7)gong2 茶㼦 |
tea caddy |
gong3 戇|戆 |
ca5(7)gong3 柴戇|柴戆 |
stupid |
gong5 愩 |
gong5(7)gong5
愩愩 |
confused |
There are no gong6 and gong7. As you learn the various sounds,
you will learn the tones, for I have used common words which we all use on a
daily basis and thus you will be able to train yourself to say the various tone
correctly.
The Chinese definition of gong5 愩 means to be perturbed [心神恍惚] and I think this describes A'Hang and Ri'Mue better than confuse.
