Teochew mountain brother used the term dong1su2 中暑 in the beginning of the video which means sunstroke or heatstroke and do you know how to say heatstroke in proper Teochew Uê? It is said as hiag4 dioh4 su2 暍著暑｜暍着暑 and he should have said dong3su2 中暑
WHY? When it is a Mandarin Teochew word, we look at the Mandarin
root word and it is zhong4shu3 中暑 and
zhong4 is said as dong3 in Teochew and zhong1 is said as dong1 in Teochew, like
Zhong1guo2 中國 as
in China is said as Dong1gog4.
Another way to say heatstroke is pêng1dioh4 烹著
This shows why we have to do tone practice to improve our Teochew or else we too can make terrible mistakes when speaking our mother tongue.
