Egg Dumpling

卵餃煲

Iab Hui makes neng6giao2bou5 [egg dumpling cook in a ceramic pot] and I have written down what he has said in the video. All of Teochew Romanisation is written according to what is used in Teochew dictionaries, i.e. using Swatow accent. However, whenever Iab Hui deviates from Swatow accent, I make a comment.

In the subtitles it writes dang6si6 但是 which means but or however

Not sure of the ngiab8 character and ngiab8lag8 has the same meaning as the Mandarin word fei4li4 費力|费力 to expend a great deal of effort

There are some people who say on frying the egg dumpling, not being aware, break the wrapper skin.

There is no need for the zêg8 and it is sufficient to say “u6 coh4 nang5”

卵皮呢薄薄實是非常易破|卵皮呢薄薄实是非常易破

The wrapper skin is very thin is really very easily broken.

The Mandarin word que4shi2 確實|确实 means really

慾伊𠁞破皮有一個辦法|欲伊𠀾破皮有一个办法

Wanting the wrapper skin not to break, has one method

The Teochew word for zê2ion7 is zio3sên1照生

The Teochew word nê1 has the same meaning as the Mandarin jiu4

Loh8 here means to drop the egg mixture, huin2 means to go round in a circle where kou1 is a circle or round

The circle is round

With a pair of chopsticks, grab a little filling and place it below

It is very strange that Iab Hui, a person from Swatow, would say boin5 as bain5

Afterwards, at the time in which the piece of egg wrapper can be lifted up a little [i.e. slightly set]

Iab Hui said oi6dig4 as oi6dêg4 and I wonder why.

就用雙箸輕呢夾了掀過來|就用双箸轻呢夹了掀过来

Then use a pair of chopsticks to lightly lift and turn over

Instead of koin3, Iab Hui said kain3

Iab Hui then spoke in Mandarin 這樣就成了 – in this way it is accomplished!
