I learn new Teochew words everyday through all sorts of ways. I have learnt a new Teochew word today!
lao6di7gêng1 老地弓
I then checked with my Teochew dictionary to find out what it means. There are two meanings listed in Zhang Xiao Shan's second edition Teochew dictionary page 163
a] very familiar with circumstances / situation
b] very familiar towards location’s terrain
lao6 as in old
di7 as in di7hng1 地方 a place
gêng1 as in a bow or banana gêng1zio1 弓蕉
The best way to build up your knowledge is to scaffold it on things you already know. To scaffold is an educational psychology way of pegging on things which you are familiar with.
