I am sure you remember a time in which we knew of China’s pollution problem and in 2005 Xi Jinping came out with this concept that “lucid waters, lush mountains are invaluable assets”. 

There is a Chinese idiom:

青山綠水｜青山绿水

green hills and clear waters - pleasant country scene

and based on this idiom, Xi Jinping came up with this concept:

lêg8zui2 cên1suan1 zui6si6 gimsuan1 ngeng5suan1

綠水青山就是金山銀山｜绿水青山是金山银山

lucid waters, lush mountains are invaluable assets

When he became President of China in 2012, he asked the people to consider this concept and they approved it in 2017 and the Chinese Congress integrated this concept of environmental protection into China’s five-year plan. This video explains what has happened after five years of implementation.
