Do you know our Teochew ko2bung7 炣飯｜炣饭 ?
There are two videos on how to make ko2bung7 and the first one is narrated in Mandarin.
The second video shows Iab Hui 業飛 making ko2bung7. Iab Hui speaks in Swatow Uê. Iab Hui is a famous chef living and working in Swatow.
Ko2bung7 is completely different from fried rice. The cooked rice is not fried. It is also different from pang1bung7 芳飯 as it uses long grain rice.
Pang1bung7 uses glutinous rice. You can see Teochew Suan Go 潮州山哥's mother and his wife making pang1bung7 so they can make ang5to5guê2 紅桃粿 and in Singapore ang5to5guê2 is called 飯粿 bung7guê2.
It is not the same as bhung1bung7 燜飯｜焖饭 and you can see Teochew Suan Go 潮州山哥 make bhung1bung7 on this video.
