Cu3bhi7 Dio5suan1 Uê7 Interesting Teochew Words 3

Most Teochew people would have forgotten what zang5 means. It means to splash.

For example: zang5êg8 漴浴 and perhaps most people say soi2êg8 洗浴 nowadays.

to take a shower

chong1liang2

I heard Iab Hui 業飛 a chef from Swatow 汕頭 using this word zang5.

He said "zang5 zêg8 guê3 zui2" which means to rinse.

zang5 zêg8 guê3 zui2

rinse once [with running water from a tap]

Let us not forget old Teochew words which our ancestors use. I am not asking you to use them, but to remember them.

Guê3 zui2 has another meaning. I heard it used twice in as many days. It means to blanch in boiling water.

to blanch in boiling water
