暖爐 dzuang2 lou5 潮汕方言

page 305 of LLL's character dictionary

暖爐 dzuang2 lou5 is a hotpot or steamboat which is eaten usually on Chinese New Year when the family all get together.  However, nowadays, we eat this through the winter months.

Our steamboat 暖爐 dzuang2 lou5 is not like other Chinese's hotpot.  The above picture shows a Swatow beef 暖爐 dzuang2 lou5.  We have many varieties - seafood, pork, snake etc but we do not have in one steamboat - pork, beef, fish, prawns all mixed together like a combo.  The picture below shows a Teochew beef ball steamboat.

Some people have decided to use Mandarin words and change our Teochew language and say huê2 uê1火鍋 instead.  I think most overseas Teochew people still call this delightful steamboat 暖爐 dzuang2 lou5. ^_~
